About the project

Workpetence – Online tool for Competence Balance for Youth Employment, aims to contribute to young people are ready to participate in the labor market. The project objective is to: Increase youth workers competences on youth employment.

Youth biggest challenge is unemployment, the young adult generation lives with the support of the family, that is, from the solidarity of the parents and the closest relatives. Long-term unemployment makes young people, frustrated and dissatisfied because they are forced to delay them in time important functions, both for individuals and for society – marriage, parenting and such. The situation in Croatia and Greece are in better situation, however the level is not drastically different, as the Greece crisis have taken its toll and the accession of Croatia in EU have left some gaps regarding youth unemployment nationwide, as young people are seeking employment in other EU countries (brain drain), and doesn’t recognize the national opportunities as options, due to the lower standards and prosperity, lack of information and opportunities.

Workpetence is focusing on the topics: Youth (Participation, Youth Work, Youth Policy) and Labor market issues incl. career guidance / youth unemployment in order to create online synergy between NEET group of young people and youth workers. Workpetence will contribute towards the following horizontal and sectorial priorities: YOUTH: Promoting quality youth work, HORIZONTAL: Open and innovative practices in a digital era, HORIZONTAL: Social inclusion.

Youth Council Prilep, Macedonia, ALFA ALBONA from Croatia and United Societies of Balkans from Greece will strive to complete the project objective with achieving the following results:

  • Established guide on consultation and mentoring basics for Online Career Guidance.
  • Provided online digital tool for support of youth workers in field of youth employment.

Additionally the project intervention expects to achieve the following results based on project activities.

  • Established fully functional interactive project website
  • Produced Methodology for Assessment of Employability Competences Online Test

Workpetence will include: Experts, Technicians, youth workers from Croatia, Macedonia and Greece in order to produce tool for Assessment of Employability competences dedicated for youth workers that provide support to young people in NEET. Approximately 1000 people will benefit from or will be target of the activities organized by the project, from youth workers, youth organizations, organizations that work with youth, national, local authorities, to young people in NEET.

The Project contains one transnational meeting, two multiplier events and delivering one intellectual output defined as Innovative digital tools for employability competences of Youth.

Young people should be targeted directly and where young people spent most of their time, Online.

Workpetence will directly target:

experts, technicians, youth workers from Croatia, Macedonia and Greece The project indirectly and on level of impact will target, youth in NEET situation aged 15 – 29 – with special focus of the NEETs in Macedonia Croatia and Greece. Furthermore, youth organizations and organization that work with youth from partner countries – will be directly communicated in different stages of the project according to the needs of the activities and dissemination of the project results.

This project will have a direct and efficient impact not only on youth workers and participant’s organizations that will be into the project and the activities, but during and after the project the impact on youngsters and multipliers will be greater. Supporting the quality expertise provided by youth workers to youth in NEET through creating new tool for Assessment of Employment Competences. Young people will be able to know and obtain a huge range of information useful for them on personal level, developed from recognized psychologists and career consultants. The project is focusing on the individual and not on the group as youth in NEET.

The project ensures the sustainability with practical multiplication of the innovative digital tools in youth workers sector as an essential tool for consultation and mentorship for young unemployed people in their employment assessment, fit to the needs of NEETs by different organizations and youth information organizations all across Europe.

We expect youth unemployment rate in the partner countries to be decreased for at least for 3% by 2025 also the average rate of youth in NEET situation in EU28 dropped for at least 2% by 2025 This will confirm and ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the proposed methodology within this project.

Project time frame is 18 Months and Workpetence will continue to exists after project lifetime as Tool for youth workers in Assessment of Employability Competences for youth in NEET.

Lead Organization: Youth Council Prilep

Youth Council Prilep (YCP) was founded in 1999 as a youth nongovernmental organization in Prilep, Macedonia focused on the Pelagonia region of Macedonia. YCP seeks to build the capacity of young people in a participative and sustainable manner.

Youth Council Prilep has consistently shown excellence in the youth field through its work in a wide variety of youth work. Youth Council Prilep, together with Youth Council Ohrid and HOPS, founded the Coalition of Youth organizations SEGA, the leading national umbrella group of youth organizations in Macedonia.

Support young people in the region

Youth Council Prilep seeks to help young people develop to their full potential. Currently young people in the region face lack of opportunities to develop themselves professionally socially and culturally. Youth Council Prilep will offer professionally activities trainings workshops and other opportunities for young people in the region to improve themselves professionally. Youth Council Prilep will provide youth friendly space as well as organize social events for youngsters to meet other youngsters. In addition Youth Council Prilep will seek to promote the cultural values in the community and allow young people to express themselves. Youth Council Prilep will tend to protect cultural values among youngsters through various activities with accordance of UNESCO priorities

Strategic Goal 2

Increase youth participation in the communities

Youth Council Prilep will work to increase the effectiveness of existing forms of youth participation by improving the youth participatory bodies in the high schools, and the student unions in the faculties. At the same time Youth Council Prilep will promote and develop the new mechanisms for youth participation including Local Youth Councils and Youth Parliaments. Youth Council Prilep seeks to involve young people in all phases of community service and community development activities from planning to implementation to evaluation.

Strategic Goal 3

Bring Europe closer to the youth

Youth Council Prilep as an organization with international experience in organizing youth exchanges, international trainings and seminars and offering EVS opportunities will endeavor to inform young people of the possibilities for youth mobility. These possibilities not only include opportunities for young people from Macedonia to travel abroad, but also give the chance for Young Europeans to experience Macedonian culture as Volunteers through the European Voluntary Service. At the same time the European volunteers will promote European values to young people in Macedonia.

Youth Council Prilep supports young people to participate in democratic processes, empowering them to grow into active citizens.
In 2016, Youth Council Prilep was awarded with the “3rd November” City award by the Municipality of Prilep, for achievements and successes in working with youth on local level.

Partner in the project: Youth Association Alfa Albona

Youth Association Alfa Albona is a non-profit and non-political association of young people, established to promote the interests and activities of youth. The purpose of the association is to encourage involvement of young people to fulfill their needs and create a lasting foundation for the development of communication among young people to promote their interests and addressing the specific problems with which this segment of the population faces. The ultimate goal is to help young people integrate into society in all its spheres to achieve their permanent socio-economic independence.
The objectives of the association are: encouraging the development of creativity of young people, guiding young people towards the acquisition of additional skills and knowledge, encouraging young people into organized and meaningful use of leisure time, expanding volunteerism, solidarity and communication among young people, encouraging non-institutional education of young people in all areas, integration of youth in international educational and cultural trends, protecting the health of young people and especially the fight against all forms of addiction, IT education of young people, encouraging young people to an active involvement and participation in all spheres of public and social life, building partnerships with non-governmental youth organizations and local governments to achieve goals for the benefit of youth.
To accomplish these goals the Association is working on the following activities: designing and implementation of projects to improve the quality of life for young people, developing and implementing non-formal education to build a civil society, organizing workshops, counseling, lectures and public discussions regarding the topics engaging young people organizing and coordinating volunteer support network for young people, organizing concerts and festivals for young people, provide information and advisory service to help young people in finding the (first) job, encouraging young people to engage in science, art, culture, education, entrepreneurship and other aspects of public life, publishing magazines, books, leaflets, brochures, organizing cultural and sporting events, establishing cooperation with other NGOs in the formulation and implementation of programs and activities of common interest and performing other appropriate activities to achieve the objectives of the Association.

Partner in the project: United Societies of Balkans

United Societies of Balkans (U.S.B.) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Thessaloniki, Greece working in the field of youth mobility, participation and facilitating youth awareness about social issues. 

It was founded in 2008 by the inception of a group of active young people who wanted to address the social issues which affect the youngsters in the Balkans and Eastern Europe.  The vision of the organisation is the promotion of youth mobility, youth involvement and participation, voluntarism and human rights. 

Key areas of the organization’s activities concern the defence of human rights, the organization of youth related projects such as youth exchanges and training courses, which can bring young people from Balkans and Europe together, and the organization of local interventions, campaigns, researches, seminars and multimedia productions. It envisions a global and inclusive society, where citizens are equally empowered to contribute in the shaping of a world with less prejudice, discrimination and other forms of injustice.

U.S.B.’s objectives and values are actualized in the society and the needs of the youngsters by:

  • Promoting the values of non formal learning, voluntarism, active citizenship and democracy for the creation of a better future for the European youth;
  • Promoting human rights, solidarity and respect for diversity amongst youth and the society;
  • Involving minorities and immigrants into youth activities;
  • Building healthy cooperation bridges between countries of the area of the Balkans and Eastern Europe with the rest of Europe;
  • Using New Media and Citizens’ Journalism methodologies to encourage youth expression, to raise awareness about Human Rights and to promote intercultural dialogue;
  • Utilizing arts as a tool for the cultivation and expression of youth;
  • Locating and multiplying the special cultural attributes of our societies;
  • Breaking down prejudices and stereotypes among the European countries and amongst youth.

The organisation has 7 paid staff and 10 external collaborators. Moreover it has around 100 members and 50 volunteers.
